12-Day Activity Tour through Uganda

Tour Highlights​

If you like active travel and want to see the best of East Africa at the same time, then there is no better destination than Uganda in our opinion. There are actually too many to mention, but here are some highlights of the Activity tour:

• Mountain biking among the zebras and antelopes at Lake Mburo National Park
• Walking safaris in various national parks
• Brave the wild waters of the Nile in Jinja on a thrilling rafting trip
• Climb a volcano and be in Uganda, Rwanda and DR Congo at the same time
• Hike from South to North through the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
• Hike through the Kyambura Gorge in Queen Elizabeth National Park
• Get off the beaten track on a mountain bike tour at Kibale Forest National Park

You can fill your active tour in many ways. These are our six favorite activities:

1. Walking safari: You go on foot with a ranger through the park. Besides getting you moving, the ranger tells you everything about the animals you see, the tracks, the vegetation.
2. Gorilla and chimpanzee trekking:  Gorillas and chimpanzees are constantly on the move. Sometimes you find them after half an hour of hiking, sometimes you are on the road for a few hours.
3. Bicycle safari : You literally cycle between zebras, antelopes and giraffes. You see lots of birds. And don’t worry: you cycle during the day, then the cats are not active.
4. Rafting on the Nile: If you want something a bit rougher and are not afraid of water, then rafting on the Nile is recommended. 
5. Hiking through the mountains and volcanoes: The most challenging hike of all is climbing to the summit of the Rwenzori Mountains – which is 5,300 meters high.
6. Canoeing: On Lake Mutanda for example – perhaps the most beautiful place in Uganda to get into a canoe. The lake is on the border with Congo and Rwanda and is surrounded by volcanoes.
